Societal anchoring

The ambition with a transition is to transform fundamentally new practices into business as usual. That calls for a change in the structure or regime; in other words the rules and procedures, the culture and identities of the relevant organisations, the mental models, as well as physical infrastructure. That is a lot that needs to change, which is why, in practice, many transition projects and programmes fail to lead to the wider adoption of new practices. Accordingly, the process of societal embedding of transition programmes deserves special attention.
